FRONT STEPS.
FIRST PART OF BASE PLATE IN PLACE, SIMPLE HALF LAP JOINT ON CORNER.
BASE PLATE FITTED AND BOLTED DOWN.
Just had this job ready for continuation, when Ari, decided to use the circular saw as a set of nail clippers, fortunately for him, it was only his fingernail that got cut through, a quick visit to the health centre, just incase stitches were needed, lots of blood, but no serious damage, bet it's a bit tender though. That put paid to doing the framework on the garage though.
Fortunately, the building engineer arrived and measured the moisture content still remaining in the floor, it had reduced enough that we could continue with the waterproofing and the tiling.
While Tarja started on some of the waterproofing, I could make a start on the kitchen floor tiles, first of all applied a coat of primer onto the concrete, this enables the glue for the tiles to stick better, it provides a much better bond as the glues do not dry out so fast.
Kitchen floor, Tarja has always wanted this pattern, hope she is satisfied.Kitchen floor finished. All that remains is the joint filling, it must dry for about 3 days before we can continue.
It was then time to start on the small toilet, wall tiles, this room does not need so much in the way of waterproofing, it is enough if only a vapour seal is on the walls, it gets the floor waterproofing also the fibre reinforcing around the seams.
Start by putting a straight batten on the wall.Apply the adhesive, with a toothed trowel, in this instance a cement based adhesive is used.
One wall finished.
Still the waterproofing on the floor, joint filling and furniture fitting to do.
It was now time to move operations to the main bathroom, the waterproofing stage, it needs to be done about 3 times, this will be measured for thickness before we can carry on with the tile laying.
That takes care of another week, next week Tarja will start on the wallpapering, I will continue with the tiling.
We have to visit the suppliers again, a lot of stuff is on order, so have to go and pick it up.
