Spring has sprung, now it is time to get out and about, take care of the jobs we did not manage to do last year. Namely the garage and the garden
While Tarja is taking care of some painting work, I did the shelving in the box-room, this entailed a trip to IKEA, or as I call it, the sticky finger shop, you go in, buy what you want, on your way to the cash desk, lo and behold, there is something we could be doing with, happens every time, something untoward ends up in the trolley, as if it isn't already overloaded.

BOX-ROOM, the start of IKEAs shelving system, (Antonius)
That's the box-room taken care off.
Reasons not to carry on during the winter, garage frame and roof ready, weatherboard fitted and first set of vertical battens in place.
Tarja's joint filling and ceiling work.
Horizontal battens fitted, the reason for the double batten is. It allows an unobstructed airflow between the timber walls and the structure itself, therefor alleviating the possibility of dam damage.
Wire mesh, fitted between the battens and the structure, this is to keep the furry critturs out, making it easier on the cat.
Short vertical panels in place.

Detail of battens and panels

Detail of double vertical batten, the reason it is double ensures that the panels run on the same line, no sticky outie bits.
Short verticals on the garage front.
Garage front, vertical and horizontal panels fitted, the gable itself reverts to a vertical panel.
Ceiling base painted, garage door motor fitted and working. It was fitted in December 08.
At the same time I was putting the panels on the outside, the garage should keep us busy for a few weeks, still need the electrician to come and fit the radiators, lights and power sockets.

Visited the garden centre (twice) both times ended up with a trailer load of plants, still a lot more of those to buy and plant, Tarja will be a very happy camper, she has been planning the garden since October, there is a fantastic amount of work to be done there, terrace extension and fence, border hedge to be planted, it all must be levelled properly, as in the autumn it was only roughly done, topsoil laid and a lawn sown, in fact too much that I wont put it down at the moment.
After the first trip to the garden centre.
And after the second, anyone fancy a shrubbery?
