FOUNDATION WORK

An interesting few days worth of work just been put in. Thursday we carried on with the seepage drains and basic filling in with sand and hardcore, Friday was spent measuring out and tamping down with the earth packer, Saturday we laid out the foundation blocks for the concrete base

A DELIVERY OF HARDCORE. Forget how many truckloads of this arrived, must be in the twenties now, each load is about 10 cubic metres, weighing in at 16 tons, it never ceases to amaze me, just how much money is spent, just to be buried underground, it's a bit like an iceberg, so much is hidden.

FILLING IN THE SEEPAGE DRAIN. This is done with a special course grained sand, the reason it is course is, we don't want it to block the small holes in the seepage pipe. After the sand is put over the pipe, it can be covered with normal hardcore. Also in the picture is my friend and helper ARI, he is just checking to see that the inspection drain remains vertical.

Only a little bit of filling remains to be done.
